The Warrior Wellness Retreat – October 7th and 8th

Beijing is a stressful place to live. Traffic, pollution, demanding jobs and an over-abundance of food choices makes for a damaging cocktail of influences on our minds, bodies and spirits. Sure, there are diets, the gym, yoga and parks to explore. But they are often overcrowded, the weather is bad, and it’s not always easy to find the time, energy and money for so many activities.


What you need is the chance to get away from the city, into nature and an environment where you can really find yourself, and learn how to reconnect your mind, body and spirit, not just for the weekend, but for the long term as well.

To that end, CK Martial Hearts, White Crane Kung Fu & Healing Arts School and EleFUN are privileged to introduce the Warriors Wellness Retreat, a two day event that will show you how to reconnect with your mind, body and soul, not just for the weekend, but in the long term as well.

Running from October 7th to October 8th, this will be achieved through the teaching of activities ranging from relaxing meditative martial breathing techniques, to intensive whole body martial routines.


The training

In total, over the course of the two-day program, participants will get the opportunity to experience and learn:


Six Healing Sounds

The ‘Six Healing Sounds’ technique belongs to the so-called ‘life-nourishing methods’. This exercise is based on the knowledge that every internal organ has its unique vibration and by tuning into the right vibration through sound we can make the organ stronger and healthier. This method is also based on the circle of mutual production of the 5 elements, which are Metal (Lungs), Water (Kidneys), Wood (Liver), Fire (Heart), and Earth (Spleen). The 6th sound is for the triple burner meridian, which connects solid and hollow organs.


Wujiquan Rooster Form

The Wujiquan Rooster step form is the first form from Wujiquan Single Posture Cyclic Palm. Rooster belongs to the element Earth. As Earth gives birth to all things, Rooster step is the foundation for all the other forms. We will learn the basic postures and stepping as well as hand techniques and their martial application.

Shaolin Tongbiquan Simplified Fist Form

Shaolin Tongbiquan is considered one of the most famous styles of kung fu and one of the fastest and most powerful. Tongbiquan, or 通臂拳 in Chinese, translates as ‘Full Arm Boxing’, and is the primary style taught to students during the CK Martial Hearts Shaolin Temple Kung Fu Bootcamp. The name refers to the fact that power used in applying Tongbiquan techniques is delivered almost exclusively using only the arms, similar to how a baseball bat is used. Tongbiquan is a complete body workout, including both high and low stances, both punches and kicks. It is easy to learn and will ensure a great workout whenever you practice.


Body Impact Conditioning

A strong body is an integral part of a balanced and harmonious life. As the saying goes, “pain is inevitable; suffering is a choice.” In order to be able to ready ourselves to make that choice, whether physically, mentally or spiritually, some discomfort must first be experienced. Through impact conditioning, participants will feel physical discomfort, and be given the opportunity to work through it, bringing greater strength and endurance to all aspects of their lives.

Shaolin Foundation Exercises

Shaolin Jibengong (foundation exercises) are the essential first step in any martial arts training, and are excellent full body exercise techniques that will push you to exhaust your physical supplies of strength and stamina, forcing you to dig deeper than you thought possible to keep moving forward.


Martial Stretching Routine

No matter whether you are an athlete, martial artist, or simply want a stronger, more balanced body, strong flexibility is always a good place to start. Having good flexibility also makes you less prone to accidents. The stretching techniques that are used at the Shaolin Temple are also the basis for the warrior monks’ immense strength and agility, and form the basis of the stretching routines that will be taught as part of the Warrior Wellness Retreat.

The location


Our retreat will take place at Zhenwu Daoist Temple, an active Daoist monastery one hour outside of Beijing. Situated in the beautiful Shenglianshan Scenic Area in Fangshan District, Zhenwu Temple, often referred to as Little Wudang, is dedicated to the Daoist Deity Zhenwu. Zhenwu, the Perfected Warrior, is considered one of the most powerful Daoist gods, and is the perfect inspiration for those wishing to unlock their potential and become the best version of themselves that they can be!

Please note that while it is clean and comfortable, Zhenwu Temple is not a hotel, but a working monastery, with no reception or room service.

CK Martial Hearts

Started in 2014, CK Martial Hearts, a division of Cultural Keys, is dedicated to allowing people of all ages, fitness levels and experience to understand, experience and unlock their potential through the traditional Chinese martial arts. This is achieved through through the provision of information, training programs, products and services, both in Beijing and at iconic locations around China, such as the Shaolin Temple in Henan. Lead CK Martial Hearts coach, AJ Donnelly, has been practicing martial arts since the age of 14. Beginning with Karate and kickboxing, AJ soon moved on to traditional Chinese martial arts and moved to China in 1999 to continue his studies. He studied Yang Style Taichi under 5th Generation Master Hao Hongwei in Shijiazhuang, achieving gold medals at traditional Yang Style Taichi competitions in both Qingdao and Hong Kong.

AJ now primarily teaches martial taichi in Beijing, and leads the CK Martial Hearts Kung fu Bootcamps at the Shaolin Temple in Henan.


White Crane Kung Fu & Healing Arts School

White Crane Kung Fu & Healing Arts School is lead by Marian Lassak. Besides the Chinese traditional arts, Marian has studied many different martial arts, including karate and Nhat Nam, since he was 10 years old. In 2003 he started to practice Chinese Wushu, mainly Shaolin styles, Pi Gua and Chinese wrestling.

In 2009 he became a closed door disciple of Master Yu Qingdi and 8th generation successor of Daoist martial art Wujiquan. In 2012 in order to spread traditional Chinese culture and martial arts he returned to Slovakia and founded Wujiquan European Center of Chinese Culture and Martial Arts.

In 2013 he became the Slovak national champion in full contact fighting Sanda and push hands. He holds 6 duan in Chinese martial arts and currently teaches Wujiquan in Beijing.
